November 2009 meeting reminder

By Webmaster | November 17, 2009

Jim just sent out a reminder about this week’s meeting:

———————————————–

This is just a reminder that our Nov. club meeting is this Thursday, 11/19. Carolyn will have an update on the fall hunt, which turned out nicely attended and a good time seemed to be had by all. Of importance, we will also be nominating and electing all new club officers, ie, president, vice president, treasurer and sec. So, it is important to be at this meeting and also be giving some thought to whom to fill these spots. We will also discuss the Christmas party, which is scheduled for Dec. 17th. With the let up in rain now for a couple of weeks, hopefully you all have been out doing some digging and we will have a bunch of good finds to show at the meeting. Also, remember to bring all your dug wheat cents since last meeting.

Looking forward to seeing everyone.

Happy hunting,

Jim Bryson

Finding a lost wedding ring in Atoka

By Webmaster | October 11, 2009

Recently a gentleman from Atoka contacted the club for help in solving a problem. It seems that his wife was in their backyard, playing with the family dog when her wedding ring went flying. Although they searched extensively, they were unsuccessful in finding the ring. Several members of the Memphis Metal Detector Club made the trek out to Atoka and had a small buddy-hunt to try and locate the ring. Club secretary Carolyn Glaze extended the search area a bit and managed to find the ring.

Unfortunately a trip through the lawn mower had dislodged the stone, but the setting (and much of the sentimental value) was intact.

Have you lost something metallic? Perhaps the Memphis Metal Detector Club or one of our members can help! Although there is no fee for such efforts, donations to the club treasury are always appreciated.

An update from our President

By Webmaster | August 13, 2009

Jim Bryson just sent an update:

————————————————–

In addition to what Sara has mentioned, Bill Bugg is endeavoring to line up a speaker for the Aug. meeting and if he is unsuccessful, Sid had mentioned that he would do a talk and video on relic hunting.

Also, I was recently contacted by a lady (Bonnie) with channel 10 that had gotten my phone number from our web site and initially she wanted to be put in contact with Sid, which I did. During our conversation she mentioned she had recently gotten a detector and was inquiring about our meeting, which, of course, I invited her to attend. Although I have had no further contact with her, she did ask if she could come to the meeting with a camera man and then do a segment on the club on a upcoming Sat. evening episode. If this in fact takes place, it might be nice for a few of us to bring some of our recoveries for displaying. Sid always has a nice display of relics and in addition, some jewelry, coins and relics recovered by some others of us would be nice.

See ya all on the 20th.

Jim Bryson
