An update from our President

By Webmaster | August 13, 2009

Jim Bryson just sent an update:

————————————————–

In addition to what Sara has mentioned, Bill Bugg is endeavoring to line up a speaker for the Aug. meeting and if he is unsuccessful, Sid had mentioned that he would do a talk and video on relic hunting.

Also, I was recently contacted by a lady (Bonnie) with channel 10 that had gotten my phone number from our web site and initially she wanted to be put in contact with Sid, which I did. During our conversation she mentioned she had recently gotten a detector and was inquiring about our meeting, which, of course, I invited her to attend. Although I have had no further contact with her, she did ask if she could come to the meeting with a camera man and then do a segment on the club on a upcoming Sat. evening episode. If this in fact takes place, it might be nice for a few of us to bring some of our recoveries for displaying. Sid always has a nice display of relics and in addition, some jewelry, coins and relics recovered by some others of us would be nice.

See ya all on the 20th.

Jim Bryson

Special notice – April meeting cancelled

By Webmaster | April 14, 2009

I just got a message from Jim regarding this Thursday’s meeting, which has been cancelled due to circumstances beyond our control. Here’s the message from Jim:

———————————————————————

Hi hunters,

The White Station Library called me late this afternoon to advise me the library will be closed for re-carpeting Th.-Sat. Hence, our club meeting for this Th is cancelled. The library will, however, give us the room on April 30th??? if we want it. Otherwise, we will have two finds of the month, one for April and the regular one for May, at the May meeting. Any thoughts on the 30th date, talk to me at the hunt on Sat. or email me.

The club hunt IS STILL ON FOR THIS COMING SAT. 4/18, rain or shine. Bring some rain gear and a plastic baggie to cover your detector screen just in case we do get some showers. We will began seeding the fields about 7:30, so several of us need to be there by 7:30 for accomplishing this.

Those of you planning to hunt, but have not yet signed up and paid the hunt fee, you can sign up and pay the fee the morning of the hunt. Do, though, give Carolyn a call at 428-1399, so she can have the necessary coins ready for seeding. Please try and get her called between now and Th. evening.

8:00–9:15 is check-in and registration and the first hunt is 9:30-10:15. 2nd hunt is 10:45-11:30. We then break for lunch and the 3rd hunt is12:45-1:30. 1:45-?? prizes and awards. There are several fast-food spots nearby for lunch, or pack your own.

The hunt site is Centennial Park in Millington. Take hwy 51 to Millington and turn right on Navy Road. Cross the railroad tracks on Navy Road and about 2 blocks on turn right into the “marked” park entrance and go all the way back to the pavilion.

Hope to see all of you this Sat.

If you have any questions, give me a call on my cell. 647-4535

See you all on Sat.

Happy hunting,

Jim Bryson

———————————————————————

It’s important to note that the hunt this Saturday is for members only, so if you are a prospective member who was planning to attend this Thursday’s meeting, you will either need to come next month or consider attending Saturday’s hunt as a spectator only.
