Strange, ancient timepiece found while metal detecting goes on the auction block
By Webmaster | October 20, 2007
Check out this strange relic found by a U.K. metal detectorist. Nobody is sure exactly how the object was used, but it dates from the 14th century and was designed to be portable. Experts have speculated that the device may have been used to tell time. No matter what it was originally used for, it may now be worth as much as $10,000 at auction.

It appears to be a calender of some sorts… Atleast thats what I can make of it from the pic! Astrological maybe… Pretty sweet find I must say indeed!

I saw a similar item in a treasure magazine years ago. A detectorist crossing a creek found a large coin like item with similar markings and the experts agreed that it was a calendar.
Beautiful find!
